MEDYSKIN 7 Day Facelift Retinol Serum

Packaging/Pricing:

30ml (1fl.oz) This serum comes in a brown glass pump bottle, which is the best possible option, since it is not clear and is air tight, which keeps ingredients stable, but still you are able too see how much product is left (which I prefer over completely opaque packaging). I purchased it at TJMaxx only for 7.99$ US. I've found the company's website, where they charge 48$ for a bottle. You can also find it on Amazon.com at around 20$ mark, which is a good price in my opinion.

Ingredients:

Water, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Tamarindus Indica, Retinol, PEG-16 Macadamia Glycerides, Octyldodecanol, Tocopheryl Acatate, Retinyl Palmitate, Ascorbic Acid, Silica, Sodium Propoxyhydroxypropyl Thiosulfate Silica, Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides, Polysorbate 80, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Triethanolamine, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Potassium Sorbate, Hexylene Glycol.

Excellent (only beneficial ingredients, proven research)
Good (mostly beneficial, not extensive research or just not quite outstanding properties)
OK (mostly thickeners, emulsifiers, mild preservatives, pH adjusters, all that is necessary, but not a skincare per se)
Bad (irritants and anything bad that shouldn't be in skincare, usually fragrance)

Ingredients Discussion:

This is definitely the best of three serums from MEDYSKIN I've reviewed. Though it doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles (and definitely not worth over 40$), it contains blend of antioxidants and few more ingredients (and no irritants) to keep me completely happy. As the name suggests this serum has retinol, actually two forms, and one is very high on the list of ingredients. I guess by now all of us know how good retinols are for the skin: serving not only as antioxidants (protecting skin from free radicals), but as cell-communicating agents (making cells work like healthy ones and transferring that message to the other cells). Resulting in skin's improved elasticity and firmness, and also reduction of skin discolorations (of course this product is not nearly as strong as prescription tretinoin).
I find that MEDYSKIN serums tend to lean towards single note side, but this one has all three necessary groups of ingredients for healthy skin. Other antioxidants are tamarind extract (which also has some cell-communicating properties), vitamins C and E. Skin identical ingredients group is represented by glycerin.
This product is fragrance and irritants free.

Consumer Thoughts:

This serum is identical in texture to Vitamin C Serum from the same brand. It is clear watery gel, that can be used under any other skincare product. I especially like it in my mourning routine, since it is rich in antioxidants. Since I do always have a retinol product in my regime, I have to honestly admit that I didn't see much change since I've started using it. But I do like how my skin looks with it, so if I come across it again at a good price I would repurchase it.

Verdict:

Excellent product. If you have a chance try it out.

5 out of 5.

  3. I know this review is a few years old, but I'm looking for an answer about the consistency of the 7 day facelift serum. I purchased this at Marshall's today and i just squirted some in my hand. It's a clear, thick .. almost gel like consistency. I can squirt it on my hand, turn my hand upside down and it takes maybe 3 seconds for it to fall off. I'm just wondering if i got an old batch that won't work. I do feel a little tingle on my skin when i rub it in. Thanks.

    1. Well, I can't say for sure, since I am not the manufacture, but if this serum is getting quite thick - that means it's definitely getting old. Also check the scent: the original serum has no scent at all, so if you detect any fragrance (and not even an unpleasant one), it probably means the product has expired.
Sorry to hear you've got expired product, but that's the risk we take with TJMaxx (usually they stock discontinued products)...
