Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream

Ingredients:

Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Beta-Carotene, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Canola Oil, Vegetable Oil.

Excellent (very beneficial ingredients, proven research)
Good (moderately beneficial ingredients, not extensive research available or just not quite outstanding properties)
OK (mostly thickeners, emulsifiers, mild preservatives, pH adjusters, all that is necessary formulation wise, but not a skincare per se)
Bad (anything that shouldn't be in a skincare product, irritants and fragrance

Ingredients Discussion:

There is good news and bad news. The good news is - this cuticle balm has amazing amount of plant oils/butters (almond, cocoa, sunflower, soybean, canola) to moisturize the skin. There are also two waxes to seal in moisture and keep skin plump. I personally find that kind of combination works better at reviving my cuticles than applying straight oil.
The bad news is - there is high concentration of very irritating lemon peel oil (and irritation can hurt skin's immune response). If you are aiming to heal damaged cuticles, the worst thing to do would be to irritate that area further.
I don't think amount of emollient ingredients in here can outweigh the potential irritation.

Consumer Thoughts:

This cuticle cream does indeed restore dry and rough cuticles brilliantly, especially on my toes (where skin is especially rough). I went through 3-4 jars of this before, but I am not going to purchase it anymore (because of the irritating lemon oil). As much as I appreciate how effective it is, I don't want to induce any further inflammation.

Verdict:

Could have been an amazing product. Unfortunately can not recommend it.

3 out of 5.

P.S: Many organic lip balms have essentially the same ingredients as this cuticle cream. So there is an option of purchasing inexpensive natural lip balm (preferably without fragrance) and using it as a cuticle moisturizer on the go.
