Short reviews. Lancome Genifique Yeux Youth Activating Eye Cream and Renergie Lift Multi-Action Lifting and Firming Cream SPF15

I have to admit I do not like Lancome as a skincare brand. I am yet to see a really well formulated product (and not in a jar packaging). Amount of money they charge for their skin care launches make me cringe. I strongly believe that it's up to you how much you spend on the skin care, since there are good options in different price categories. But I always advocate to spend money only on GREAT skincare (whether it is 10$ or 100$). Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike Lancome brand itself, I think their make-up line is amazing. And usually that's how I come across new Lancome products to review, when I buy some make-up products and get gift with purchase deluxe skincare samples. I actually don't even enjoy doing such negative reviews, but I want to be fair and save some of you from less than great purchases. I want these review to be short, without going to much into detail.

How to read an ingredient list:
Excellent (very beneficial ingredients, proven research)
Good (moderately beneficial ingredients, not extensive research available or just not quite outstanding properties)
OK (mostly thickeners, emulsifiers, mild preservatives, pH adjusters, all that is necessary formulation wise, but not a skincare per se)
Bad (anything that shouldn't be in a skincare product, irritants and fragrance)

Renergie Lift Multi-Action Lifting and Firming Cream SPF 15

Ingredients:

Active: Avobenzone 3%, Octisalate 5%, Octocrylene 7%;
Other: Water, Dimethicone, Glycerin, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Beeswax, Poly C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate, Sucrose Stearate, Saccharomyces/Xylinum/ Black Tea Ferment, Sodium Polyacrylate, Hydrolyzed Linseed Extract, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Benzoate, Red 4, Stearic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Adenosine, Acetyl Tetrapeptide-9, Peg-100 Stearate, Palmitic Acid, Silica, Chlorphenesin, Yellow 5, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Dimethiconol, Limonene, Benzyl Alcohol, Linalool, Caprylyl Glycol, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Geraniol, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Disodium Edta, Citronellol, Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate, Coumarin, Glyceryl Stearate, Fragrance.

Ingredients Value:

This day moisturizer does have broad spectrum sun protection, however SPF 15 is considered a bit too low these days for daily wear (may be suitable for the dead of the winter). Surprisingly this formula does have few antioxidants and skin-identical ingredients, but not enough to justify the price point though, especially with that much added fragrance.

Price:

97$ for 50ml (1.7fl.oz).

Texture/Feel/Scent:

Very very emollient. Though it claims to be for all skin types, this cream will work out only for dry skin. Pleasant but strong floral scent (reminds me of hyacinth flowers) that lingered on my skin for more than 6 hours (didn't like that). Feels nice on the skin, especially in the winter time.

Verdict:

Not recommended. It is actually not such a bad formulation, but jar packaging, low SPF, high price point and lot's of fragrance make this cream much less than ideal.

Genifique Yeux Youth Activating Cream

Ingredients:

Water, Cyclohexasiloxane, Bifida Ferment Lysate, Glycerin, Propanediol, Alcohol Denat., Polysilicone-11, Dimethicone, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, DI-C12-13 Alkyl Malate, CI 77891/Titanium Dioxide, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Mica, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Benzoate, Phenoxyethanol, Adenosine, Faex Extract/Yeast Extract/Extrait De Levure, PTFE, PEG-12 Dimethicone, Triethanolamine, Chlorphenesin, Chlorhexidine Digluconate, Polygonum Fagopyrum Extract/Polygonum Fagopyrum Seed Extract, Silica, Salicyloyl Phytosphingosine, Chlorella Vulgaris Extract, Ammonium Polyacryldimethyltauramide/Ammonium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, Dimethiconol, Limonene, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Carbomer, Boron Nitride, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Bis-PEG/PPG-16/16 PEG/PPG-16/16 Dimethicone, Disodium EDTA, Ceteareth-20, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Citronellol, Fragrance

Ingredients Value:

In essence: high concentration of irritating denatured alcohol (which is bad in general, but absolutely horribly unsuited for an eye product) + several irritating fragrance components + barely any ingredients to consider this an anti-aging formula.

Price:

67$ for 15ml (0.5fl.oz)

Texture/Feel/Scent:

Very light gel cream. Has light but distinctive scent. Not very moisturizing.

Verdict:

No excuse. Not recommended.

P.S.:

Even though I didn't like any of the reviewed products, still Renergie Lift cream left better impression.
