HURRAW! Coconut Lip Balm
Ingredients:
Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Euphorbia Cerifera
(Candelilla) Wax, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis
(Jojoba) Seed Oil, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Organic Flavor, Tocopherols (Vit E).
Excellent (very beneficial ingredients, proven research)
Good (mostly beneficial ingredients, not extensive research available or just not quite outstanding properties)
OK (mostly
thickeners, emulsifiers, mild preservatives, pH adjusters, all that is
necessary formulation wise, but not a skincare per se)
Bad (anything that shouldn't be in skincare, irritants and fragrance)
Ingredients Discussion:
Great composition. This lip balm features a nice blend of plant oils/butters, such as almond, coconut, jojoba, cocoa, castor and olive. All will keep lips well moisturized. Fatty acids in oils also repair protective skin barrier. Combined with candelilla wax (which seals in moisture), these ingredients prevent water loss, especially from damaged cracked lips. On the side note, this lip balm doesn't have beeswax (which is a typical ingredient for an organic lip balm), but rather employs plant based wax. This is significant for those, who look out for vegan cosmetics.
The very last ingredient in here is vitamin E, which acts as a natural preservative, plus give slight antioxidant boost to this formula. Of course, I would love to see a more antioxidant rich formula, but they are so rare to came across, so I don't consider them to be a golden standard.
The coconut flavoured version of Hurraw lip balm doesn't have any essential oils, but beware of other flavours, since many of them do contain irritants. Other safe flovours: Vanilla, Chocolate, Green Tea, Almond, Coffee.
Consumer Thoughts:
Really enjoyed using this lip balm. Very very emollient. Some of you may find it on the greasy side, but that works for me the best. The roasted coconut scent is pleasant enough, but not overpowering. I will definitely be trying other scents from this line. One of the best lip balms from "natural" segment. Also it is reasonably priced at 3-6$ for 4.3g (0.15oz).Verdict:
Highly recommended. However not all "flavours" are the same ingredient wise.
5 out of 5.
