Sephora Favorites Sun Safety Kit

Sephora has released the sunscreen collection kit recently (here). Since I am extremely addicted to protecting my skin from UV exposure, I was tempted to explore what is on the market and decided to purchase it. I will do separate reviews of individual sunscreens from this kit, once I have enough time to play with them. But now I want to give a brief overview of the set. I think it was a really good deal. You get 16 miniature size face, lip and body products. The kit retails for 32$ (the claimed retail value is 155$). Though not all of the products have good or passable ingredient lists, still there are enough options to be able to play around with and to find the one that will work out for you.

Body Products:

  • Vita Liberata Passion Flower & Argan Dry Oil Broad Spectrum SPF 50
  • St. Tropez One Night Only in Light-Medium (the only product without SPF, but goes with the theme, since it is a sunless tanner)

Lip Products:

  • Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 (great that they didn't forget about lips, however this chemical sunscreen based formula doesn't have UVA filters!)

Face Products:

Physical Sunscreen
  • Josie Maran Cosmetics Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47 (great gentle formula for dry skin; reviewed here)
  • Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Dark Spot Sun Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Sunscreen (has some questionable ingredients, but at least it is a broad spectrum sunscreen)
Mixed Chemical And Physical Sunscreens
  • Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Cream SPF 50+ WetForce Broad Spectrum Water Resistant (has some questionable ingredients, but is a broad spectrum)
  • Clarins UV Plus Anti-Pollution Broad Spectrum SPF 50 (not bad, not good)
Chemical Sunscreen
  • Peter Thomas Roth Max Sheer All Day Moisture Defense® Lotion SPF 30 (so far looks very promising)
  • Supergoop! City Sunscreen Serum SPF 30 (not bad, but not really good)
  • Korres Yoghurt Nourishing Fluid Veil Broad Spectrum SPF 30 (lists alcohol as a second ingredient! already not recommended)
  • AmorePacific Natural Protector SPF 30 (not bad, not good)
  • Ole Henriksen total truth eye crème SPF 15 (jar packaging makes it useless)
Make-up Related
  • Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 30 (chemical sunscreen; clear gel make-up primer, however clear packaging will eliminate any anti-aging benefits it may have)
  • Dr. Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm SPF 45 (physical sunscreen; great BB cream for light to medium skin tones)
  • Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 in Light Medium (chemical and physical sunscreen; surprisingly good formula, however the colour will be too dark for light skin tone)
  • Origins VitaZing™ Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Energy-Boosting Moisturizer with Mangosteen (chemical sunscreen; out of all products in this kit, this one is the most loaded with irritants)
