MEDYSKIN Pure Hydration Hyaluronic Serum

Price/Packaging:

This 30ml (1fl.oz) serum I was able to find at TJMaxx for only 7$. You can find Medyskin serums on Amazon from 15$ to 25$. However the official retail price is 48$.
The packaging is standard brown glass pump bottle, which will keep formulation safe from light and air exposure.

Ingredients:

Water, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Hyaluronic Acid, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Gel, Opunita Ficus Indica Stem Extract, Tamarindus Indica, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Triethanolamine, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Potassium Sorbate, Hexylene Glycol.

Excellent (very beneficial ingredients, proven research)
Good (mostly beneficial ingredients, not extensive research available or just not quite outstanding properties)
OK (mostly thickeners, emulsifiers, mild preservatives, pH adjusters, all that is necessary formulation wise, but not a skincare per se)
Bad (anything that shouldn't be in skincare, irritants and fragrance)

Ingredients Discussion:

This is pretty simple and straightforward formulation. I am a bit disappointed, since other Medyskin serums were so well formulated. The strong point is that this serum does not have any irritating ingredient, such as alcohol, essential oils, fragrance etc.
However active ingredients featured here (glycerin, aloe gel, hyaluronic acid) have only water binding properties (help skin to retain moisture better). I don't like such "mono" products (with the exception of prescription treatments). This will be acceptable only for young skin with no problems. Also I couldn't find much research about opunita ficus indica extract, so I am not even sure if it has beneficial properties or safe altogether.

Consumer Thoughts:

This is serum is extremely light. It has watery gel consistency and soaks into the skin instantly. This may work as a hydrating serum for very oily skin, but may not be sufficient for any other skin type.
Even though there is not anything bad to say about this product, I just didn't enjoy it so much. Not a repurchase for me.

Verdict:

An OK product. Try it out if you are looking only for water binding ingredients. But I will suggest to try other serums that also have antioxidants and other beneficial ingredients, which is always better for the skin.  Not worth the retailer price tag.

4 out of 5.
